ASTM A312 / A358 Stainless Steel 316 Pipe Supplier, 316L/316L Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe, Call Daxun for ASME SA312 316L Stainless Steel Pipe
Daxun Alloys is the leading manufacturer, supplier, and stockist of stainless steel materials. We manufacture many types of pipes and ship them all over the world. These pipes offer excellent ductility and strength. 316 stainless steel pipes are created with high-quality materials and machinery. This grade is classified as commercial grade since it is widely utilised in the industrial sector and has some common residential applications.
316 grade stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel that gives the alloy good stability and toughness. These 316-grade stainless steel pipes are extremely resistant and durable. It is very resistant to chloride ions. The thickness of these pipes varies from 0.5 mm to 6.35 mm. These pipes are exceedingly heavy in construction. These pipes are mostly utilised in hot applications. These pipelines transmit liquids, gases, fluids, and acids.
316 stainless steel pipes are constructed from a ductile mixture that includes 4% molybdenum. These pipes offer several good qualities, including a variety of functions. These pipes are exceptionally durable, with high yield and tensile strength. Daxun Alloys assures that high-quality materials are used in the production of these exceptional pipes. We also employ a variety of testing procedures to assure the capacity, quality, and robustness of our products. We ship these products all over the world at extremely inexpensive costs. The projected working temperature for these stainless steel pipes is 1010°C-1120°C. These pipes are widely utilised in numerous sectors to transport liquids and other chemicals.
Daxun Alloys offers Type 316 stainless steel pipes in a variety of sizes and shapes, including Type 316 stainless steel welded pipes, Type 316 stainless steel seamless pipes. Like all products supplied and sold by Daxun Alloys, our Type 316 stainless steel meets or exceeds all industry standards. The pipes are all solution annealed.
Stainless Steel Pipe 316/316L is a tube made of the stainless steel alloy 316/316L. The typical molybdenum-containing grade, 316 stainless steel pipe alloy, is the second most popular grade of austenitic stainless steel after 304. The molybdenum in 316 provides stronger overall corrosion resistance than the 304 grade, particularly in chloride conditions. The 316L grade (L=Low Carbon) is similar to the 316 grade, but with an extra-low carbon analysis. This eliminates detrimental precipitation when welding heavier portions in the 800º F to 1500º F range. As a result, 316L is commonly used for heavy-duty welding applications. Typically, there is no price difference between 316 and 316L stainless steel pipes.

GENERAL PROPERTIES
316/316L stainless steel tube is an austenitic stainless steel pipe containing molybdenum. The increased nickel and molybdenum content of this grade makes its overall corrosion resistance better than 304, especially with respect to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride conditions. In addition, 316/316L seamless pipe has excellent high temperature tensile, creep, and stress rupture strength, as well as excellent formability and weldability. 316L is a low carbon form of 316 that resists sensitization; therefore, it is widely used for large size welded components.
Specifications: UNS S31600/S31603.
APPLICATIONS:
These numerous advantages and benefits mean that 316 Stainless Steel tube is used in many different applications and environments which include the following examples:
- – Food preparation surfaces, equipment, and appliances, particularly in chloride environments
- – Laboratory benches & equipment
- – Coastal architectural panelling, railings & trim
- – Boat fittings
- – Chemical containers, including for transport
- – Heat Exchangers
- – Woven or welded screens for mining, quarrying & water filtration
- – Threaded fasteners
- – Springs
- – The storing and handling of acetic acid
- – It’s used in the pulp and paper industry to avoid iron contamination of the product, specifically Type 316 is used extensively in the paper machine.
- – Pressure vessels
- – Furnace parts
- – Valves & pumps
- – Pharmaceutical equipment
- – General chemical equipment
- – Stainless steel floats
- – Structural steel and components in marine environments
- – Medical equipment
- – Coastal environments
- – Areas with high salt levels (such as roadways)
- – Brewing facilities
- – Environments with increased exposure to alkalis and acids
- – Industrial equipment that handle corrosive process chemicals used to make such products as inks, textiles, bleaches, photographic chemicals, and rubber
- – Food preparation equipment particularly in chloride environments.
- – Architectural applications
- – Medical implants, including pins, screws and orthopaedic implants like total hip and knee replacements
- Food preparation equipment, especially in chloride environments
- Chemical processing, equipment
- Laboratory benches and equipment
- Rubber, plastics, pulp & paper machinery
- Pollution control equipment
- Boat fittings, value and pump trim
- Heat exchangers
- Pharmaceutical and textile industries
- Condensers, evaporators and tanks
STANDARDS:
- ASTM/ASME: UNS S31600 / S31603
- EURONORM: X1 CrNiMo 17 12 2 / X3 CrNiMo 17 12 2
- AFNOR: Z 6 CND 17-11 / Z 2 CND 17-12
- DIN: 1.4401 / 1.4404
CORROSION RESISTANCE:
- Generally more resistant than 304 in range of atmospheric environments and many corrosive media due to the increased chromium
and molybdenum content. - Subject to pitting and crevice corrosion in warm chloride environments, and to stress corrosion cracking above about 122°F (50°C).
- Considered resistant to potable water with up to about 1000mg/L chlorides at ambient temperatures, reducing to about 500mg/L at
140°F (60°C). - Usually regarded as the “marine grade stainless steel” – but is not resistant to warm sea water.
HEAT RESISTANCE:
- Good oxidation resistance in intermittent service to 1600°F (870°C) and in continuous service to 1700°F (925°C)
- Grade 316L is more resistant to carbide precipitation.
WELDING CHARACTERISTICS:
- Excellent weldability by all standard fusion methods, both with and without filler metals.
- Heavy welded sections in Grade 316 require post-weld annealing for maximum corrosion resistance, this is not required for grade 316L.
HEAT TREATMENT:
- Annealing temperature range is 1900 to 2100°F (1038 to 1149°C).
- Cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
- Special consideration is needed to compensate for a higher coefficient of thermal expansion to avoid warping and distortion.
PROCESSING – HOT FORMING:
- Most producers recommend a maximum forging temperature between 2100°F and 2300°F
- Do not forge below 1700°F (927°C) Best
- Corrosion resistance is obtained if the forgings are given a final anneal.
PROCESSING – COLD FORMING:
- 316/316L types being extremely tough and ductile, can be readily cold worked such as roll form, swaging, cold heading, deep drawing,
bent, etc., without difficulty - Severely cold formed parts should be annealed to remove stresses.
MACHINEABILITY:
- Type 316/316L is somewhat more difficult to machine than Type 304 because of its toughness.
- 316/316L machines with chip characteristics that are tough and strong.
- Chip breakers and curlers are advised.
- As large a tool as possible and great amounts of cutting fluid should be used.
- Heavy positive feeds at low speeds should be considered since 316/316L work hardens rapidly.
